You can get certified at the Y through our Standard First Aid and CPR courses! These courses not only provide participants with valuable life-saving skills, but they also include the latest first aid and CPR guidelines, meeting legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards.

 

We offer both original courses for those who have never been certified before, as well as recertification courses for those who need to renew their certification. Our courses are taught by certified Canadian Red Cross experienced instructors who are passionate about teaching and providing participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Course Types

A comprehensive course in a blended format offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

DURATION

Original: Blended: 8 hours online* and 8 hours in class

Recertification: Blended: 4 hours online* and 4 hours in class

PREREQUISTE

Original: Participants must be 16 years or older. 

Recertification: Successful completion of Standard First Aid with CPR-C Original within 3 years of course date.

COMPLETION

  • Successfully complete online learning
  • Successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps
  • Min. 75% mark for multiple choice knowledge evaluation
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

  • 3-year certification in Standard First Aid with CPR Level C

Courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provide the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies. Courses meet legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and include the latest CPR-C guidelines and training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

 

DURATION

3.5 hours in-class.

This recertification is in-person only.

Participant must be 16 years or older. 

Successful completion of CPR-C original course or Standard First Aid with CPR-C within 3 years of course date.
