We know Albertan's love Camp - and whether you attended Camp Chief Hector 25 years ago or you are preparing for your child's first summer away at camp, we know you will love it, too.
For Albertans of all ages, Camp Chief Hector has provided formative experiences and unforgettable memories for over 90 years.
After 50 years of operation at our current site, much of the infrastructure is in need of revitalization. That is why we are launching our Love, Camp Revitalization Project, and we need your help to show the Government of Alberta that Albertan's believe in this cause!
There are three easy ways for you to get involved:
1. Send a Letter of Support to Minister Luan, Minister of Culture, showing your support of the Love, Camp campaign. We’ve drafted a letter for you to easily click and submit!
2. Share your story about what camp means to you on social media with the hashtag #LoveCamp
3. Participate in our contest on Instagram from January 20-31! You could win a weekend getaway at Camp Chief Hector YMCA for you and 3 friends!

Love, Camp Capital Campaign
We are now envisioning what is next for Camp Chief Hector as it approaches it centennial year as a place for fun, belonging and making memories that last a lifetime.
The Love, Camp Campaign focuses on revitalizing our STAY & PLAY environments. These strategic improvements will allow camp to continue to be that magical camp in the Rocky Mountains – where some of life’s best stories come from.
Correna Jones, one of one of our cabinet members for Camp Chief Hector's Love, Camp Campaign still recalls coming to camp 37 years ago. The impact of Camp Chief Hector has lasted a lifetime for Correna, and she wants to ensure that generations of kids can have the same experiences and develop lasting relationships as she did. “The experiences from camp and the Y last a lifetime. Camp was such an important part of my life."
Many Albertan's have experienced Camp Chief Hector, they may be your neighbours, friends and family, or even our local politicians.
The former Minister of Culture, Ron Orr spoke highly of Camp. "Camp was pivotal, it began a life-changing journey for me. I remember leaving Camp the first year and saying to myself, ‘if I can help anyone the way the counselors helped me, that is what I will do with my life.’ Camp is one of the most powerful places, it is an experience that provides opportunities for character-building, lifelong friendships, establishing connections to nature and the land, to encounter role models and to find confidence and independence and leadership in youth.”
